Local Airports:
Every one loves going on vacation, but your experience at your local airport can make or break your trip. Here are some helpful hints to a better airport experience.
- when booking your flight make sure the reservations are for your local airport, if they are not you may have a long drive before your trip start and after your return trip home
- When packing your bags make sure they are under the allotted maximum weight. If they are not you will have to pay a hefty fine at your local airport and maybe again when departing on your way home
- It is usually better to have an extra bag then a bag that is over weight
- Make sure that besides having a name tag on every one of your bags that is clearly marked with your name and address you put some other identifying mark on your bags. Personally I like to take some fabric and tie it around the handle in a tight knot, so that when at the baggage carousel at my destination and my local airport I can quickly identify my bags.
- make sure you have several pieces of identification. If you forget your identification you will have to go home and get it then come back, and that's if you are at your local airport. If you lose your ID and you are on your way back from your vacation and are traveling abroad you may have to go to the local embassy, and getting new Id may take some time, and if you are traveling in your own country you may have to take a train or bus back till you can get new ID.
- If you drive your own car to the airport write down where you parked and keep it in your wallet. Not remembering where you parked your car is annoying.
No one wants there vacation ruined because of a bad local airport experience, but they do sometimes make for funny stories years latter.
